The Kings is perfect for everything from light lunches to special occasion dining. We are in the center of town, ideally situated for meeting, relaxing and dining with friends.

The Bar is located in one of the oldest buildings in town and is the only remaining operating part of what once was the largest and busiest hotel in Girvan, The Kings Arms Hotel.

In its heyday The Kings Arms Hotel took pride in its 50 Bedrooms ranging in price between 6/ & 20/

shillings per night with lit fires being provided for an extra 3/shillings during the day and 1/shilling & 6 pennies throughout the night.
Hot baths were available for just 1/ shilling or cold baths for the more fearless traveller for only sixpence. The more affluent guests could also hire butlers and maids to do their bidding for the daily sum of just 10/ & sixpence each.
It also boasted several Lounges & Smoking rooms where the Gentlemen visitors could congregate to discuss their business and put the World to rights whilst their Ladies and their progenies could partake in some lawn Croquet or Putting in the greens at the rear of the building where tea would also be served. In the early 1900’s the hotel owner a Mr Thomas Lees also operated a tour company from the hotel called Coast & Country Tours which at first used horse drawn carriages to take visitors on outings to the nearby villages of Ballantrae & Colmonell with his mode of transport being replaced by a Motor Charabancs with the advent of the motor vehicle.

Today alas I can only offer you good Food & Refreshments in pleasant surroundings, but I will do my utmost to ensure you still enjoy your visit.
